Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated all over the country with full energy and positive vibes. It is a festival that lasts for 10 or 11 days every year and people send goodbye to Lord Ganesha on the day of Anant Chaturdashi which ends the festival. This year, Ganesh Chaturthi started on September 19th 2023 and Anant Chaturdashi or Ganesh Visarjan (as it is called in Maharashtra) was observed on 28th September. On the day of Ganesh Visarjan, which is the process of immersing the idol of Lord Ganesha in the waters, devotees pray, perform poojas, and bid goodbye to the idols telling Lord Ganesha to come back next year surely.
Many devotees of all age groups become very emotional because when they bring Lord Ganesha’s idols to their homes, they consider Him to be a family member and when they have to do Ganesh visarjan, they don’t want Lord Ganesha’s idols to go from their homes. Among the many devotees that are too attached to Bappa (who Lord Ganesha is fondly referred to as), one small girl child was seen crying a lot as she was finding the whole process of sending Lord Ganesha’s idol from her home to be too difficult.
Recently, a video was shared on social network Twitter where a little girl can be noticed crying uncontrollably and holding the Ganesha idol tightly as she was unable to let it go for the visarjan (immersion) process. She looked at her family members innocently who were waiting around the vehicle and was not allowing them to take Lord Ganesha’s idol for the visarjan. She kept removing the hands of a woman who was asking her to leave Lord Ganesha’s idol and instead kept hugging the idol tightly. One woman who seems to be her mother can be heard asking the little girl to let Bappa go as he will come back again next year. But the child was too emotionally attached to the Ganpati idol and was profoundly sad about the departure of the Elephant God.
The innocence of the child in thinking of Lord Ganesha’s idol as her own family member and a human being was too touching. The video was widely shared on all social media platforms and also WhatsApp. People who saw the video flooded the comments section with how they also related to the child’s unconditional love towards Lord Ganesha and always waited for the next year to welcome Lord Ganesha back to their homes. It was also shared on Go Spiritual India’s Facebook page which saw over 1,000 views and numerous likes.
The lovely child’s adorable video is a symbol of the true love of children towards Lord Ganesha. Indeed, children are truly the forms of God and pure souls who know no differences and boundaries in expressing their genuine emotions and sharing their care, love, and affection.
As much as welcoming Bappa’s idol to homes is important in the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, that much is taking the Ganesha idol for immersion vital. It is believed that with the immersion of Lord Ganesha, all the problems and challenges of the devotees’ homes and their families are removed and washed in the process.
